MIDGARD Studio is owned by Aitor and Irma, a couple with a shared dream. Both have been tattooing for over 10 years in various locations in Amsterdam, Zandvoort, Haarlem, and Amersfoort. In June 2026, they took the step to open their own tattoo studio in their hometown, Gouda.
Together they started the search for a suitable name and quickly came up with it through their passion for Norse mythology

Midgard (Old Norse: Midgardis in Norse mythology the middle of the nine worlds and the realm of humans. The name literally means ‘middle enclosure’.
The gods Odin, Vili, and Ve created the first humans, Ask and Embla, and gave them Midgard as a safe place to live, protected from the chaos of the giants (Jötunheim) beyond their borders.
Aitor is an experienced tattoo artist. He is originally from Madrid and speaks fluent Spanish and English. His creative spirit, which is expressed in drawing, has occupied him since childhood. At MIDGARD Studio, he combines his love for realistic tattoos and drawing, creating personal works that tell his clients' unique stories..
Irma is an experienced tattoo artist. She is from the Netherlands and speaks Dutch and English fluently. After her education and having worked in Malawi and Norway, she chose a career as a tattoo artist. Irma specializes in dotwork and mandala. She worked in various tattoo shops until June 2026 when it was time to forge her own path as an entrepreneur with Aitor and they opened their own MIDGARD Studio: Tattoo studio in Gouda!
What binds them? A love for tattoos, art, an eye for quality, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. Together, they form the heart of MIDGARD Studio, a place where ideas, ink, and people come together.

How we work
1. Getting to Know Each Other
By MIDGARD Studio Every visit begins with a warm welcome. Upon arrival, we invite you for a cup of coffee. We use this time to not only get acquainted but also to go over the design together. This is the perfect moment for you as a client to provide feedback and discuss any adjustments, ensuring the design is exactly to your liking. We will then determine which tattoo artist best suits your needs.
2. The design
We take great care in preparing the design prior to your appointment. Once you are satisfied with the discussed adjustments and the final design, we will prepare everything to start the tattooing process. We ensure that all necessary supplies are ready and that the workspace is completely hygienic.
If you want to expand or cover an existing tattoo, we ask you to book a consultation first. We often cannot see what we can do with it from a photo. During the consultation, we will discuss what is possible and provide extensive advice. We want to tattoo everything we design, as we are tattoo artists and not graphic designers. We do not recreate existing tattoos from other tattoo artists exactly and do not work with AI. We create personal designs for our clients and therefore do not tattoo them again. Our creativity is endless, so we are happy to help you with a design that we create especially for you.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to see exactly what the tattoo will look like beforehand. By the time you book an appointment, you should already be familiar with our work; we hope that your trust in us and our vision will be enough.
3. Getting the tattoo
We make getting your tattoo as comfortable as possible. You can choose to wear earbuds or headphones to block out the sound of the tattoo machine if you’d like. While we’re tattooing, we stay focused and don’t talk constantly. This creates a calm atmosphere. We don’t interrupt the session for phone calls, and we keep breaks short.

4. Follow-up Care
And now it’s your turn. During the tattooing process, the skin is broken, creating a wound. If you take good care of the tattoo, it will take about three to six weeks for this wound to heal completely. If the tattoo is covered with a sterile bandage or plastic wrap, you can remove it after 3 to 5 hours. You can shower with a tattoo.
